Catherine received a Citrus Academy bursary and started holiday work at CRI.  Following the completion of her studies, she was appointed as a Research Assistant in the Postharvest Pathology department at CRI Nelspruit and simulaneously started her MSc. in Plant Pathology through Stellenbosch University.  While studying, she was promoted to Reseach Technician. Graduating cum laude at the beginning of 2017, she is continuing her work in research at CRI but also taking on more postharvest extension responibilities and will be spending more time at packhouses around the country.

BSc. (Agric) Plant Pathology at the Univerity of Pretoria

MSc. in Plant Pathology at Stellenbosch University

Current Research Focus 

Alternative methods of controlling sour rot, particularily in the drench and through the use of sanitisers in the packhouse.
