In order for CRI’s Diagnostic Centre to be able to do loss of sensitivity testing for postharvest fungicides, a swab must be taken of the decay. This video demonstrates how to swab green mold on a fruit; how to swab a surface; and how to correctly package and send in the sample.
SOILBORNE DISEASES – How to collect soil and root sample for nematode and Phytophthora analysis. It is always good management practice to: Regularly (every 3 years), determine the soil pathogen (Phytophthora and nematode) status in orchards older than 3 years of age – routine 3-year management practice When planning to replant or do top work in orchards, prior to removing the irrigation or cutting down the scion, collect soil and root samples for analysis.
