Introduction to FCM Trap Monitoring

Pheromone-based trapping systems have been developed to provide a means to monitor insect population levels whereby monitoring data are used for management purposes. Due to the phytosanitary status of FCM for some export markets, FCM trap monitoring together with orchard monitoring of FCM infested fruit is part of a systems approach to effectively manage FCM and serves as a tool to assist with establishment of seasonal comparisons, treatment prioritisation of orchards and accurate timing of treatment applications for FCM control.
